BetSmart Kenya is an independent editorial publication that reviews online betting sites operating in the Kenyan market. We launched in 2025 because the existing comparison sites in the country had two problems: rankings driven by commission rates rather than product quality, and reviews written by people who hadn't actually used the products.
We test every operator we recommend with real money over a minimum 90-day window. We time M-Pesa withdrawals with stopwatches. We verify GRA licences against the regulator's public register. We read the bonus terms and document the bits that hide on page 7. Then we publish what we found.
Our editorial principles
One — testing before recommending. No operator appears in our top rankings without 90 days of real-money testing by our team. We don't write from press releases.
Two — disclosing the commercial relationship. We earn affiliate commission when readers register at sites we link to. We say so, on every page. We list our affiliate partners openly.
Three — editorial independence from commercial. Our editorial team's scoring is final. The commercial team cannot revise scores or block publication of negative findings. We've turned away two operators in the last 12 months whose payment reliability didn't meet our threshold despite competitive commission offers.
Four — transparency on changes. When rankings shift, we explain why. Our methodology page documents the scoring framework openly so readers can decide whether they agree with our weights.
Five — responsible gambling first. Every page links to the responsible gambling resources page. We don't bury the helpline number in the footer of one page — it's in the footer of every page, and prominent.
Who we are
The publication is run by a small editorial team based in Nairobi with backgrounds in financial journalism and online product testing. We are not affiliated with any single betting operator. Our team members are individually disclosed to the GRA as required for affiliate registrations.
